If you received an invitation via email to enroll your device in Viewpoint's School's Jamf Pro instance, this article will provide you step-by-step instructions on how to do so. Jamf Pro allows you to check-out specialized software for use during your class. At the end of the semester (or academic year in some cases), your computer will be automatically disconnected from Jamf Pro, at which time Viewpoint IT reclaims the license from your device. Once this happens, you will not be able to run the software until you purchase it under your own personal Apple ID. Alternatively you can simply uninstall it from your computer.
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, please confirm your computer meets the requirements for the specialized software you will be installing.
- Computer hardware: Macbook Air/Pro (ideally M1 or newer); Windows, Linux, ChromeOS are not supported
- Operating system: macOS Monterey or above
- Free disk space: 15 GB free space, in addition to requirements of individual apps
- Logic Pro: https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/
- Final Cut Pro: https://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/specs/
If you have any problems or questions during this process, please open a ticket with the Viewpoint IT Helpdesk at https://helpdesk.viewpoint.org or via email helpdesk@viewpoint.org.
Part 1: Certificate & MDM Profile Installation
First open the email message containing the invitation and click on the enrollment link.
Enter your Viewpoint School credentials (username and password).
Install the "CA certificate" for your organization by clicking "Continue."
Select "Allow" to allow download of the CA certificate.
Press "Continue" to install the certificate.
Press "Install" to confirm.
You should now see the "Profiles" window with a user profile "CA Certificate" installed.
Return to your web browser. You should see an updated screen prompting you to continue with enrollment. Click continue.
Again you will be prompted to install something, this time the "MDM Profile."
Click "Install."
You'll be asked again, are you sure...?
Select "Install."
At the password prompt, enter your computer's password. (This usually does not match your Viewpoint password; you must have administrative rights to your computer to authorize this.)
If successful, you will now see the "Profiles" window has a few more profiles added to it.
Return to your browser; you should see the message "The enrollment process is complete."
Once this complete please reply to your helpdesk ticket notification and we can confirm the enrollment is complete. After this, we will assign the requested license to your computer. It may take an hour or so to download any new software, so we recommend leaving your computer online for some time to allow the download to complete.
