Viewpoint employees should have at least two verification methods for authenticating with Duo Security, one of which should include a smartphone or mobile device that you generally keep with you. All employees have access to the self-service device management portal, where they can easily add additional verification methods or update existing devices.
To get to these settings, sign in to a Duo-protected application. These include:
- Outlook Online (https://outlook.office.com)
- Google Workspace (https://drive.google.com)
- Citrix Desktop (https://go.viewpoint.org) (screenshots look slightly different using this platform)
If you've previously signed in from this device, be sure to do this using the "Guest" profile window in Chrome.
1. Sign-in using your Viewpoint username and password:
The Duo prompt will appear:
2. Do NOT complete the Duo authentication at this point. Press "Cancel" if using Touch ID or let the request time out if using Push or texting. You should see something like "Login canceled" or "Duo push timed out." OR
3. Press the "Other Options" button.
4. NOW, you DO want to authenticate! To access the device management you must verify your identity, just as you do when logging in to a service or application protected by Duo. Your options may be different, depending on your existing authentication options.
If you are having trouble or your primary method is not an option, you may request a temporary bypass code from the IT department by calling ext 6105.
5. Once verified, you will be directed to the Device Management portal for Duo.
Here you can edit existing methods or add new methods such as a Duo push on your primary smartphone, adding alternate smartphone, Touch ID, SMS codes or even voice-based verification.
We HIGHLY recommend using Duo Push, as this is by far the most convenient and portable solution for the majority of users. If your device has a fingerprint reader (such as a modern MacBook Air), you may wish to ALSO add Touch ID as an alternate method. We do not recommend Touch ID as the ONLY method for verification, as you will not be able to complete verification without your laptop present.
To add a new device, simply follow the prompts for that particular verification method until the enrollment is complete. Once complete you should see it listed on your "Device Management" page.
If you have any questions or problems adding new devices, please open a ticket with the IT helpdesk and we'll be happy to assist.
