Connect to Wi-Fi at Viewpoint for iOS / iPadOS

These instructions are specific to devices running iOS or iPadOS, including Apple iPhone and iPad. If you need to select a different device type, click HERE.

1. Make sure your device is online

You will need an active network connection to proceed. This could be...
- Cellular data: an active cellular data connection (5G, LTE, 4G, etc)
- Wi-Fi off-campus: connect to any trusted wireless network (like your home Wi-Fi)
- Wi-Fi on-campus: select onboarding from the wireless network list (if your device is already connected to another network, that's OK too!)

2. Authenticate using your Viewpoint credentials

IMPORTANT: you MUST use Safari

Launch Safari and go to https://myaccount.google.com
- If prompted to sign in, use your Viewpoint credentials.
- If you are already signed in with a personal account, click on the account icon at top right and select your Viewpoint account; if not in the list or known accounts, click "add an account" and sign in with your Viewpoint credentials.
In Safari, open https://wifi.viewpoint.org .
Click the button "Viewpoint Wi-Fi (Recommended)"
Your device type should be automatically detected. Click the red "Sign In" button.
Select your Viewpoint account and password and press NEXT.

3. Install Configuration Files

Now that your credentials have been validated, we can begin the onboarding process.
Click the red JoinNow button.
A configuration profile will be pushed to your device. Press Allow.

If prompted select iPhone.
You will be notified that the profile downloaded successfully.
Press Close.
Open the Settings app. You should see that a Profile has been downloaded and is ready for installation. Click on the "Profile Downloaded" line.
You will see a summary of the configuration file. Click Install...

... and press Install again...
If prompted, enter your device's PIN or passcode (used to unlock it).
... and one-more time, press Install.
Now the profile should be installed. Press Done in upper right.

4. Enable security certificates

Open Settings > General > About > (scroll down to bottom) Certificate Trust Settings.
Enable full trust for the Cisco and Fortinet Root certificates.

These certificates enable the security features that help protect the wireless network and provide secure access to school resources.

4. Connect to "Viewpoint" Wi-Fi on-campus

Congratulations the "hard work" is done! If you are on campus, your device likely has already joined the "Viewpoint" network.
If you receive an iCloud Private Relay alert, select "Use Without Private Relay." This is expected and only applies while you're connected to Viewpoint's campus network. Private Relay will continue to function normally on other compatible networks.
If you onboarded your device using cellular data or an off-campus network, your device will automatically connect to "Viewpoint" the next time you are on campus.

5. Forgetting old networks

We recommend you "forget" any unneeded networks such as "ViewpointGuest" and "onboarding" from the saved networks on your device. To do so, follow these steps:

Open Settings > Wi-Fi.
Click on the (i) button next to Onboarding:

Click Forget This Network so that your device does not try to use this network in the future.

Press Forget again.
Do this for each saved network you wish to forget.
Your device will automatically connect to the "Viewpoint" network, indicated by the blue checkbox pictured here. Don't worry—the "warning" is expected. The "Privacy Warning" message is normal for the Viewpoint Wi-Fi network and does not indicate a problem with your connection.
Click the (i) button.
Ensure that "Private Wi-Fi Address" and "Limit IP Address Tracking" are disabled.
